I have below a little commentary on this stupid ass phenomenon called the Harlem Shake. Harlem is an historically black section of New York City. Harlem Renaissance (look it up), Harlem Globetrotters… yea, ya’ get it? The Harlem shake was actually a dance started by young kids in Harlem, who mostly happened to be black. Now every idiot is putting on a costume and doing it. Do you see where this is going? Directly or inadvertently turning this into a modern day minstrel show. Click video below. Thanks.

I honestly never really sought out any information on what this is until now, although I did hear about it being a new sensation. I suppose it makes me old that I watched the video (of the new “shakes,” if you will) and immediately wondered what the hell was going on. It’s like a Stanley Kubrick movie, and I’m pretty sure I saw someone transform into a slimy cocoon…or maybe they were in a sleeping bag. Hard to say.
I just didn’t even find anything remotely funny or entertaining about it. And Stanley Kubrick… hell yea. That was all kinds of A Clockwork Orange.
Sometimes it amazes me when people jump on a fad without actually knowing where it comes from. Apparently seeking the truth is secondary to seeking your own happiness (as I write that I realize the futility in even saying it).
