Madge’s Video Blog #2

8 Jan

Here is my second attempt at a video blog.  Lighting still sucks but this is a work in progress.  Suggestions, comments welcome.  Please share, Facebook, Tweet this blog if you like!  Thanks.

KUDOS to you for vlogging! I still have to get brave enough to try it, but it’s on my list for my grandmother blog this year. :)

The lighting was better and you seemed much more relaxed. My oldest and Jack both have that deep voice! I hope he sings at NYU! I like the rap too!

Thank you love! Let’s collaborate on some stuff soon! He was going to sing at NYU but then he joined a fraternity. lol

Let me know what you have in mind! You know I’m game. I’d love to hear his voice in an acapella group. But that’s HIS career. Let’s chat about your vlog!! :D

I wouldn’t worry so much about the camera itself (work with what you have). I did notice some lighting issues (your hands were glowing). You might try moving the camera back a little so natural lighting will have a better flow.

Its great to see you relax a bit. Change the atmosphere just a touch and you could set this as a fun 5 to 10 minute talk show (Coffee Talk with Madge).

Thanks. Yes yes, I know the lighting is terrible. Actually it’s a by-product of the crappy built in camera in the laptop. It’s more of the graininess in the picture, no amount of lighting can fix that, I’ve tried. Have to get a hand held digital or something.

For my videos I have been using a Bloggie. It’s a decent little one from Sony. I think it came out to roughly $160, so great for those on a budget. For me personally, I find the digital camcorders can be great but they are so single use. I need bang for the buck. We have been looking at tablets for upgrades. Tablets have more versatility and some have really great cameras (smart phones can be good too but the cost for service is more than I am willing to part with).

Oh great, thanks for the suggestion! My son has like a 6 year old handheld digital recorder, and the video is actually better than my laptop camera but I don’t have a tripod. Guess I could just set it on some books. But can you hook those up to your computer to use as a monitor while filming? Things will take time as I go along.

I find it much easier to film and then edit when done. One day I should do an outtakes video of the stuff I cut out of my cooking vlogs. For me I find it easier if I don’t have to worry about whats on the camera so much while I am filming. This allows me to concentrate more on doing what I need to do for the video itself.

I just looked that camera up online, can you get a tripod for it or how do you set it up to record you?

Kudos to you for vlogging! I’ve thought about making a few videos on writing related stuff, but haven’t worked up the courage yet. I’m not too versed in filming, but maybe video editing software could help tone down the harsh white quality.

It’s totally the crappy laptop camera. I’ve tried editing. I’m working on getting a decent handheld. Thanks for watching!

So funny! And hilarious, too! :) I just read about six post in a row and I can say: Hello, let me be one of your IRL broads and lets go for total global domination. Duh. Or dominatrix-tion. Or something cool like that.

Also, of course you all got sick. Your kid came home from college. Just be glad you didn’t get VD. ;)

And I like the list of the stuff you want to get done. I’d love to read your manuscript, if you’d like feedback. Maybe I can even help you promote it when it is born.
